    Almost all the culture and tradition practised in Sikkim is based upon two main religions Hinduism and Buddhism which is followed by the Sikkimese people. Lepchas, Bhutias and Nepalese are three main tribes of Sikkim, Nepali is the common language spoken by the people of Sikkim. Lepchas are the oldest resident of the state and they either follow Buddhism or Christianity. Many cultural festivals are celebrated in Sikkim according to the Nepali calendar and Tibetan calendar. The main festivals of Sikkim are Dashain, Tihar, Manghey Sankranti, Chaite Dasian, Drukpa Tsechi, Phang Lhabsol, Saga Dawa, Lhosar etc.
