    Kalimpong is also known as the Stronghold of the Kings Minister, as Kalim means "Kings Minister" and Pong means "Stronghold". Kalimpong is a small town district located close to the Tibet, Bhutan, and Sikkim borders, in the Himalayan foothills of West Bengal.

    Almost all the culture and tradition practiced in Kalimpong is based upon two main religions, Hinduism and Buddhism, which the Kalimpong tribal people follow. Lepchas, Bhutias, and Nepalese are the three main tribes of Kalimpong. Nepali is the common language spoken by the people of Kalimpong. Lepchas are the oldest resident of the state, and they either follow Buddhism or Christianity. According to the Nepali and Tibetan, many cultural festivals are also celebrated in Kalimpong. The main festivals of Sikkim are Dashain, Tihar, Manghey Sankranti, Chaite Dasian, Drukpa Tsechi, Phang Lhabsol, Saga Dawa, Lhosar etc.
